"Bye Didi! Fir aana, humein padhna bahot achcha lagta hai" -said a little girl as I was ending my session for the day. Such is the enthusiasm and desire of most of these kids!! I have been a part of CS for 2 years now and I feel proud of my decision. As part of the program, we perform scientific experiments, shared worksheets and interesting facts with children and have tough time answering some of their innocent questions.
As a CSR member I have realized that volunteering not only helps the corporates give back to the society, but also reveals the considerate and generous character of an individual. The more efforts you make, the more you receive in terms of learning, experience and contentment. I request all to join the CSR team and volunteer for the initiatives. Please extend your support to make a difference and experience the joy of giving. As they say "No one can do everything, but everyone can do something."Ankita M.
"Days before the pond activity, the thoughts running through my mind were 'I want to help, but it will be hard physical work…digging under the sun. Can't we just help them by donating some money?'Then a day before the activity, Tushar and the NGO we were working with, explained us what the activity is going to be about. I thought, 'Fine, let me give it a shot.' The day arrived, and we went to Kusgaon.”
Then after seeing the place personally, the actual pond, the kind of problems that the villagers were facing and the initiatives being taken to help them, my thoughts changed to, 'I am glad that I am part of this initiative.' We then spent a couple of hours doing the activity. At the end of the day, I felt glad that I did "hard physical work", that I "worked under the sun" and that "I did not just donate money". I am happy that I got this opportunity to do my bit, and would like to thank those who initiated this activity. Also, congratulations to the whole team that took part in this. Thanks."Kanwaljeet Singh D.
“Being a Farm pond activity volunteer, I was responsible for assisting teams to the village Mandgari. The itinerary of these outings comprised of breakfast, de-silting activity, refreshment breaks, photo-opportunities and lunch. Initially I thought of this activity as a waste as the same could be done using a machine. After assisting the first team, I realized that not only does this activity give us a chance to experience a farmer's typical day but also helps with improving team bonding. Last year's Farm ponds had increased the water table to an extent that the villagers could irrigate their fields till March (earlier the bore-wells used to dry up by the end of December).
One gets to know that practices such as farm-ponds are easy, cost-effective and drives a huge benefit to the countryside. I would like to thank KPIT for organizing such a well-thought out event that combines both team-building and social-service.”Kaustuv B.
“We always think that to make a positive impact on the environment we will have to do something really huge, but that's not true. Even small things can go a long way in making a difference. KPIT has always been environmentally conscious and organizes tons of activities towards this cause. I have been a part of these activities for three years now. It feels amazing when you do something for "Mother Nature". Every year we conduct tree plantation activity in and around the campus and in the city premises. Every day I see the tree that I had planted and it gives me a feeling of satisfaction and brings a smile on my face.
I am looking forward to doing something for the animals. I request you all to be a part of these activities and enjoy every moment of it and feel the satisfaction of doing something for nature.”Tilottama K.
“My life was starting to become a boring routine and I wanted to do something different. This led me to think about the many challenges we have today. The biggest challenge I feel is "Child Education. KPIT gave me the opportunity to do my bit in this direction through its Chhote Scientist initiative. Becoming a CS volunteer has truly changed my life. It's given a larger purpose in life. As "Chhote Scientist" volunteers, we go to different schools in rural areas and teach basics of science to 8th and 9th std. students through simple and interesting experiments.
Through this we aim to enable students explore their potential and innovative ideas. So, let's come together and make "Chhote Scientist" initiative a bigger success than it already is.”Ganeshwari S.
“Every session of Chhote Scientist is a great learning experience for both, me and the kids I teach. Thanks to Piyush, Nikhil, Isheet and team for their training and for helping me rediscover the magic of science. The children in school in Urawade are quick and smart learners. They can give illustrative examples of different topics of science, which is the purpose of Chhote Scientist program, to show them real life applications of science, thereby making it fun to learn.
Our CSR initiatives are a great opportunity for us to do something for the society, so let's all volunteer in large numbers and make it a success.”Charudatta B S.
“Through its CSR programs, KPIT gives me an opportunity to serve the community and make an impact. I have been a part of CSR Bangalore Family as a volunteer teacher for the weekend Thayimane teaching program. Volunteers teach over 60 orphans at Thayimane every weekend." It gives me immense pleasure when I go there and they greet me by my name and actually show their homework which I assign to them at the end of every session. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Group Chairman Shri Ravi Pandit and Shri Tushar Juvekar for supporting such a noble cause and extending complete support to all the volunteers. ”Rajeev K.
“This drive is more than just about providing a school kit to every child. Its about giving them hope! KPIT volunteers do not just assemble school bags, they assemble new destinies for children. For me, its more than just the joy of giving, its the joy of making their dreams come true. When we give these kits to children, they are so eager to see what they contain and when they actually open the bags, they are amazed to see all these new things. And that smile on their faces, makes everything worthwhile. ”Piyush T.
“Whenever we talk about giving back to the society, we end up talking in monetary terms. However, being a part of Chhote Scientists group was a different and amazing experience, where I felt I am truly contributing something to the society. The joy I see in the eyes of my students each time I visit the school is really satisfying. Their eagerness & hunger to learn more gives me the energy to keep going…… ”Akshata T.
“We at KPIT are always enthusiastic about working for the needy. One of my key learnings from the Farm Pond activity has been my ability to manage people. As the tilling activity is conducted every week in the chosen months, volunteers for the event are sent in batches. Here, I was responsible for allocating different slots to groups interested for the farm pond activity and plan the spread of this initiative. This was my first CSR activity in KPIT and I would definitely like to contribute again.”Somya S.
“Farm pond activity has been a very refreshing experience, a break from the routine city life. I had the opportunity to step into a farmer's shoe, although for a day, and do my bit towards helping the villagers on the irrigation facility front. The renovation of these farm ponds is going to help the nearby villages in solving their irrigation related issues. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this activity.”Amruta G.
