A day when all the employees flaunted the color green in support of environment the week.
We observed Environment Week at KPIT Cummins from 4th to 8th June 2012. This time, we not only invited volunteers, we also asked them to come up with ideas for the activities to be executed during the week. We received 20+nominations for volunteers and more than 40 unique ideas, which were then shortlisted after discussions within the volunteers, FLM and Security teams. One major activity was planned for every day of the environment week. Some of the activities included Mock Parliament, “Call of life” - a documentary screening by Manasi Patil on environmental issues, Expert Sessions on environment- related topics viz. “Owls - Our Friends: Superstition and Science” by Dr. Satish Pandey and “A re-look at our transportation problems” by Mr. Ranjit Gadgil, and finally an award winning musical drama presentation by our in-house Theatre Group. We received encouraging response from the employees for all of these activities.
Also contests like “Painting and Poster making” and “How Green Are You?”, and activities like Environmental Issues Awareness, Tree plantation, Newspaper donation and Paper Bags Sale, which ran for the whole week, kept the momentum going and received a very good response and participation from the employees. We planted 30+ trees within our premises and sold over 200 paper bags.
Some of the activities, like partnering with Ela Foundation, tree plantation, documentary screening, expert sessions etc., are being seen as activities that maybe planned on an ongoing basis.
We wish to keep this momentum going, and are confident that we will continue to take KPIT CSR to greater heights.
