Teaching Classes at Sarasvati Bal Niketan, Noida

Sarasvati Bal Niketan School was established in 2003 by a trust named Brahmashree Saraswathi Devi Aadishakti Math. The school aims to educate the underprivileged children in the surrounding localities. Currently a total of 350 students, from nursery to the fifth standard, are studying at the school. For the past three years starting from 2013, KPIT employees have been volunteering as teachers at Sarasvati Bal Niketan and have been visiting the school twice every month to teach these children. They employ interactive methods, such as practical science experiments, to make learning fun for the students. We witnessed participation from around 200 volunteers consistently from the year 2013.
The Impact
This is an ongoing initiative wherein KPIT volunteers are enhancing skills and capabilities of these students, thereby helping them improve academically. These sessions are also making them more confident and knowledgeable, enhancing their practical knowledge and better understanding of the concepts. In the FY 15-16, a total of 96 sessions were conducted throughout the year involving active participation from 50 volunteers.
Teaching Classes at Thayimane, Bangalore

Thayimane is a humanitarian institute for underprivileged children and KPITes volunteer to transform their lives with formal and non-formal education. As a part of this initiative, KPIT volunteers met Mr. Keshvamurthy – Director of Thayimane in January 2013 & chalked out a plan based on the number of students in various classes and the medium of study. Initially we formed a team of 15 teachers who were experts in subject areas like Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Computer Science, Kannada, English etc., but within 2 months, our teachers’ strength doubled, and currently our education team comprises of 400 teachers. Our enthusiastic teachers visit Thayimane regularly during weekends (Saturday/ Sunday) to teach these kids. We received active participation from 400 volunteers completing successful 500 sessions for the FY 15-16KPIT organizes a blood donation drive every year and receives an astounding response from its employees.
The Impact
The impact of consistent engagement with the children in teaching for the past 2 years at Thayimane was commendable. The results of the committed volunteer engagement from our employees ensured that the students excelled academically. The higher primary school students passed with flying colors, while earlier they were struggling to clear the exam. With the regular and committed efforts, the kids are doing well in their exams. About 60% of the kids were able to score distinction, 30% scored second class and 10% kids were able to pass the exams and got promoted to the next class.
